The scotch yoke pneumatic actuator converts the linear motion of the cylinder piston into rotational motion, providing uniform rotational speed and output torque, making it more suitable for driving quarter-turn valves such as ball valves and butterfly valves.
In the scotch yoke pneumatic actuator, the linear motion of the cylinder piston pushes the slider on the yoke, converting the piston’s linear motion into rotational motion. The output torque and rotational speed are not uniform; the torque is higher at both ends of the stroke and lower in the middle, while the speed is slower at the ends and faster in the middle, forming a parabolic curve.
